홈컴잉 데이

서강대 IVF 홈컴잉데이 사진을 이레하우스 블로그에서 퍼왔습니다... 나름 좋은 시간이었습니다. 예진이는 따로 마련된 놀이방에서 (정말 큰 배려입니다!) 또래 친구 예인이를 만나 즐겁게 놀았고, 세 시간이라는 긴 시간에 조금 지루하기도 했지만 하나님 나라를 위해서 다방면에서 혹은 긴 세월동안 애쓰시는 분들의 자취를 잠깐씩이나마 볼 수 있었습니다. 큰 사진 오른쪽 구석을 잘 보시면 예진이가 귀빈석(?) 에 앉아 저녁으로 제공된 도시락을 열심히 먹고 있는 모습이 보이실 거예요.... 회비는 가족당 책정되는데 도시락을 세 개씩 먹고 왔네요.



아주 잠깐, 예진이의 대학생활에 대하여 생각해 보았습니다.

주변의 개척교회를 생각하면서 읽었다. 처음에는 흔한 성공서적인 줄 알았는데, 기대 이상이었다. 기도의 힘이 이렇게 놀랍구나... 하고 생각하면서. 빚 때문에 기도 외에는 움직일 수조차 없었던 그 아픈 기억들을 절절히 풀어내면서, 내가 잘해서가 아니라 하나님이 하셨음을 고백하는 저자의 태도가 참 인상적이었다. 개인적으로 별로 좋아하지 않는 요소들이 많은- 일종의 선입견이라고 할 수 있지만- 그런 교회일수도 있는데, 정말 오랜만에 만난, 눈물을 흘리며 읽은 책이었다. 하나님, 우리의 생각보다 크신 하나님.

DAY 27

Introduce to Genesis
Genesis introduced every theme and problem disccussed in scripture. Genesis is the key to God's eternal plan and purpose in creation and to man's fail and increasingly deeper estrangement from God, himself, and others. And it is above all a record of God's continuous reconciling actions both in and throuhf individuals and the Jewish nation.

Genesis 1.
예수님의 예루살렘 입성 직전에 누가복음이 끝나고 창세기로 넘어가게 되어 있다. 복음서가 한창 흥미 진진했는데....
창세기 1장을 읽고 다시 질문에 답해보자....

창세기라 당황이 되었는지 어제 결국 큐티를 하지 못했다. 솔직히, 다른 것들을 하느냐고... 성경은 계속 가지고 다녔는데 겨우 본문 한 쪽 읽었을 뿐이다. 생각해보면 만남도 있었고 통화도 있었는데, 내가 너무 영적으로 분별없이 살았던 것이 아닌지 모르겠다.
아침, 영상 10도. 지난 주까지 30도를 오르내리는 날씨였다는 것이 믿어지지 않는다. 선선하다못해 춥게 느껴지는 바람을 맞고 갑자기 많아진 아침 잠을 어떻게 극복할까 생각하게 된다. 예진이를 데려다놓자면, 국림도서관 앞으로 가는 21번 마을버스가 바로 학교 앞에 있다는 것이 너무도 큰 잇점으로 다가온다. 게다가 환승할인을 이용하면 공짜인 것이다. 버스정류장에 서 있으면 집에 쌓인 설겆이 거리와 청소할 것들, 그리고 빨랫감이 생각난다. 그래, 빠리 바게트 까페에서 3천 8백원짜리 홍차나 한 잔 마시며 문 열리기를 기다렸다가 롯데수퍼나 갈까, 하는 생각이 든다. (롯데 수퍼는 9시 반에 연다.) 그러면 장도 볼 수 있고 또 홍차를 마시며 일기를 쓸 수도 있을 것이다. 결국 나는 집에 유통기한이 지난 우유가 있다는 것을 기억해 내고 가을 바람을 맞으며 늘 오던 길과는 다르게 좀 먼 길로 천천히 집으로 돌아와 주전자를 올린다. 그리고 홍차를 우리고 우유를 섞어 밀크티를 만든다. 하나님, 이게 맞나요? 하고 여쭈어보면서....

Everyday, caos is in my mind. I cannot choose easily, and many possibilities come to me. I should clean my house but I don't like it. I should not waste my time to read comics but I want it! Now, I need God's order as He did in the first of the world.


만일 치밀한 무신론자가 창세기를 가지고 따지고든다면 해결하지 못할 많은 문제들이 있다. 해와 달이 창조되기 전부터 날짜가 세어졌고, 식물이 나왔고, 별들은 그 후에 창조되었다. 새와 물고기가 따ㅏㅇ 위의 짐승들보다 먼저 창조되는 부분도 생각하지 못했던 부분이다. 빛은 무엇이길래 해와 달과 별 이전에 창조되었는가- 여기에는 차라리 대답할 말이 있을 것 같다. 나의 찬송을 부르라는 훌륭한 책에는 그 답을 '소리'로 보고 있고 예수님의 현현으로 보는 사람들도 있다. 어쨌든, 지구과학적인 입장에서는 도통 이해가 되지 않는- 성경은 과학책이 아닌 것이다. 창조과학회에서 많이 인용하기는 하지만!!

그럼에더 불구하고 - 내가 대답할 말이 다 있는 것은 아니라고 할지라도, 나는 이것을 믿는다. 하루의 길이가 24시간이 아닐 수도 있다는 것까지는 인정한다. 하지만 일정한 구획의 시간에 하나님이 순서대로 아름답게, 의도를 가지고, 그 결과에 만족하시면서 이 세상을 창조하셨다는 것을 믿는다. 우리가 별들을 보며 또 자연을 보면서 하나님의 말씀을 기억하는 것도 이때문일 것이다. 하나님은 자신의 형상대로 인간을 창조하셨고 청지기로서의 의무를 지우셨다.

내게 주신 것, 내가 즐기고 누리는 것, 또한 이것은 청지기적으로 가꾸어야 하는 것이기도 하다. 나를 둘러싼 일들, 주여 이것들을 감당할 때에 복을 주시옵소서, 아멘.

예진이 이야기

아직도 예진이가 학교에 가는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니다. 교문 앞에서 한 번 심호흡을 하고 들어간다. 내가 과연 준비물을 잘 챙겨왔을까, 숙제는 제대로 했겠지 등등 물어보면 걱정되는 일들을 말하지만 내가 보기에는 - 그렇다. 익숙하지 않은 것에 대한 부적응의 그림자가 아직 완전히 지워지지 않고 있는 것이다. 영어학원에 가면서는 - 숙제는 그 곳이 곱절이 많은데도- 그렇게 긴장하지 않는 것을 보면 더욱 그렇다.

며칠 전에 고무적인 일이 있었다... 예진이가 학교에 입고 가겠다고 한 원피스가 허리가 없는 옷이었다. 무늬는 이쁜데 잠옷같기도 하고 임부복같기도 한 디자인이었다. 학교에서 돌아와서 아이들이 놀렸내고 했더니 잠옷입고 왔다고 놀렸단다. 그런데도 학원에 그대로 입고간다. 학원에서 돌아와서 학원에서도 아이들이 놀렸냐고 했더니 그렇단다. 전혀 아무렇지도 않은 표정이다.

미국에 처음 가서 애슐리가 벌레 붙어있는 옷 입고왔냐고 할까봐 잠자리랑 나비 무늬가 있는 쉐터를 입고가기 꺼리던 예진이었는데... 예진이의 대범함이 기분이 좋다. 어떻게 보면 2년동안의 미국에서의 생활의 좋은 부분일 수도 있겠다.

한국에서는 '튀지 않게' 무척 애를 써야 한다. 튀면 놀림을 받고 또 따돌림을 받을지도 모른다는 생각이 강하다. 학생답지 않다는 말 속에는 학생다움에 벗어나지 않아야 한다는 엄한 경고가 들어있다. 그에 비하여 미국은 '튀는 것'에 너그럽다. 안전에 위협이 되거나 다른 사람에게 불쾌감을 주지 않는 범위 내에서는 장려하기도 한다. 'THE CRAZY HAT DAY'나 'THE CRAZY HAIR DAY'같은 날에는 어떻게 하면 이상하게 보일까를 고민한 결과들로 인해 학교가 유쾌하기도 하다.

다른 사람들에게 맞추기 위해서 하고싶은 말을 참고, 집어들었던 옷을 다시 걸어놓고, 하고싶지 않은 화장을 하기도 했던 나의 삶을 뒤돌아볼 때 예진이의 대범함이 평생의 좋은 자산이 되기를 기원하게 되는 것이다.

Day 25
Luke 9:37-62 (New International Version)
The Healing of a Boy With an Evil Spirit
37The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him. 38A man in the crowd called out, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. 39A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him. 40I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they could not."
41"O unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here."

42Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the evil[a] spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father. 43And they were all amazed at the greatness of God.

While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 44"Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men." 45But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

Who Will Be the Greatest
46An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. 47Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. 48Then he said to them, "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all—he is the greatest."
49"Master," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us."

50"Do not stop him," Jesus said, "for whoever is not against you is for you."

Samaritan Opposition
51As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. 52And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[b]?" 55But Jesus turned and rebuked them, 56and[c] they went to another village.
The Cost of Following Jesus
57As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go."
58Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

59He said to another man, "Follow me."
But the man replied, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."

60Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God."

61 Still another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good-by to my family."

62Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.



여기서 보면 예수님은 아주 관용스러운 것 같다가도 엄청 엄격해지기도 하신다. 오늘의 본문은 대비로 가득차 있다. 제자들은 능력이 없고 예수님은 능력이 있다. 제자들이 고치지 못하는 것을 예수님은 하신다. 제자들은 누가 첫째가냐고 싸우고 예수님은 어린아이를 영접하라고 하신다. 예수님을 밝히시고 제자들은 두려워 묻지 못한다. 제자들은 부당한 대접에 화를 내고 예수님은 그저 다른 마을로 가신다. 사람들은 제자가 되려고 나아오지만 예수님이 하시는 말씀은 너무나 단호하다.



아, 우리는 왜 그러는 것일까? 왜 주님의 일을 그저 반대로만 하는 것일까? 어떻게 하면 주님의 일에 동참할 수 있고 나를 부인하고 십자가를 질 수 있을까?



제자들은 무언가 끝을 향해가고 있다는 것을 감지했다. 변화산에서 돌아온 세 제자의 얼굴은 경이로움과 진지함에 가득 차 있었을 것이다. 게다가 그 분의 능력은 끝이 없는 것처럼 보인다. 예루살렘에서 무슨 일이 반드시 일어날 것이다. 그동안의 고생도 끝이 날 것이다. 얼마 남지 않았다. 고지가 바로 저기다. 그들은 첫째가 되려고 다투었고 자기의 계보를 위해 다투었으며 꿈과 야망이 무르익는 것을 느꼈다.

예수님의 평가는 참으로 부정적이다. 믿음이 없는 세대요, 낮아질 것을 요구하시고 또 있을 것이 없음을 경고하신다. 쟁기를 잡지 말 것에 대한 비유는 참으로 냉혹하게 들리기까지 하다. 게다가 아버지의 장례를 참석하지 말라니! 과연 우리 선조들은 이 명령을 어찌 받아들였을 것인지.



지금에 와서 제자들의 기대는 하나도 빠짐없이 엇나갔고, 하나님은 그들을 다른 단계에 세우시고 또 이끄셨다는 것을 우리는 안다. 하지만 이 본문을 보며 여전히 제자들의 모습에 가슴이 아프다. 바로 내 모습이기 때문이다!



주님, 주님의 십자가를 저는 잘 이해하지 못합니다. 이렇게 바보같아보이는 제자들만큼이나 이해하지 못합니다. 주님의 예루살렘 여정의 의미를 100% 착각했던 제자들모다 더 이해하지 못합니다. 주여, 제게 십자가를 가르쳐 주소서. 그리고 내가 십자가에 못박혔다는 바울의 고백을 듣게 하소서.

Day 24

Luke 9:1~17
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve 1When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3He told them: "Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic. 4Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. 5If people do not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town, as a testimony against them." 6So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.
이런 전도가 가능할까? 만일 어떤 사람이 이 구절에 의지하여 우리 집에 들어온다면?

7Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed, because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead, 8others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life. 9But Herod said, "I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?" And he tried to see him.
불쌍한 헤롯. 하나님은 여러가지 방법으로 그를 부르셨다는 생각이 든다.

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand 10When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.
12Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, "Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here."
13He replied, "You give them something to eat."
They answered, "We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd." 14(About five thousand men were there.)
But he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each." 15The disciples did so, and everybody sat down. 16Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to set before the people. 17They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

하나님, 저만 바라보아서는 아무것도, 그야말로 아무것도 할 수가 없습니다. 주님의 말씀을 듣고 주님의 방식을 보고 순종하게 하옵소서, 아멘.
